Ageing and eye problems
Ageing affects all organs. It is prominently exhibited in skin and eyes. As age advances, you will notice changes in the eye focus: eye sight decreases – you can’t either read newspapers or see distant objects clearly. Technically termed myopia (short sightedness) or hypermetropia (long sightedness), these are common after 30 years.
Apart from this, hardening of the outer layer called cornea is also experienced. With corneal problems, one cannot take fairly bright light or cannot see in fairly dim light. If unattended, corneal problems may diminish eye sight. Blurry vision, cloudy vision, retinal problems etc may lead to permanent sight loss.
While the above mentioned situations are mostly medical, non-medical indications too crop up with age. These are mostly cosmetic yet have a pronounced effect on the appearance. Such effects are easily seen on the relatively sensitive skin sorrounding eyes.Lines, wrinkles and dark circles start developing which make you appear a little older.
Healthy diet, particularly rich in ‘eye vitamins’, calm and composed attitude, disciplined life style, contentment and regular sleep, protection from UV light will help prevent the onset of ageing signs, particularly around eyes. Besides, a regular regime of skin care will enhance the youthful skin. Application of moisturizing creams during nights and days, with sufficient, undisturbed sleep will definitely improve the dry, puffy and dark skin around the eyes.
Dark circles under eyes show prominently with ageing. The thin skin under eyes is easily damaged and appears dark. It also appears baggy and puffed due to loss of elasticity. Sometimes one needs professional help in eliminating or combating signs of ageing around eyes. Medical assistance will tackle the sight related problems while cosmetic products are necessary to ease the irritating issues. There are plenty of specialized products around for you to choose from.
